WiFi WAP Deployment
A logistics company needed a reliable Wi-Fi network for its 250m x 100m warehouse. The warehouse had high ceilings (12 meters) and storage racks up to 8 meters. The network had to support forklift-mounted scanners, RF guns, and laptops. The goal was to ensure full coverage using both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies.
Project Challenges
The network needed to provide seamless Wi-Fi across the entire warehouse. It had to support all devices, including scanners, RF guns, and laptops. Dual-frequency capability (2.4GHz and 5GHz) was essential. WAP placement had to avoid interference and withstand environmental conditions.
ROC Approach
The high ceiling made signal propagation difficult. Wi-Fi signals degrade over long distances. Storage racks, made of dense material, interfered with signals. The ceiling’s high temperatures could affect WAP performance. WAPs needed careful placement to avoid forklift collisions while ensuring full coverage.
Results
WAPs were mounted at 9 meters using poles. This kept them away from heat and improved signal distribution. A hybrid design combined ceiling-mounted external antennas and wall-mounted directional antennas. The final design ensured seamless roaming and uninterrupted connectivity.
Ekahau AI Pro was used for Wi-Fi design. After implementation, Ekahau AI Pro and Sidekick 2 validated coverage through a post-implementation survey. Adjustments were made as needed. The warehouse achieved full Wi-Fi coverage with no roaming issues. Operations improved with reliable wireless connectivity.
