Telecommunications Case Study No. 1
Installation of f 110mm conduit
Client: Fibreconx
Project Location: Ermington to North Ryde
Project Duration: 3 months
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The scope to design and install a large section of P100 infrastructure, forming part of a comprehensive Fibre network, linking multiple data centres within Sydney.
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
The brief was to build a standalone Fibre network, within some very stringent guidelines and specifications. Our team were required to design, survey, and construct the route from A to B, whilst prohibiting the use of third-party infrastructure, and predominantly utilizing HDD drilling techniques.
CHALLENGES WITH THE PROJECT
There were many challenges to contend with, none more so than repeatedly drilling and excavating around Critical Services, including
High Pressure Gas, Oil Lines, and Water Distribution Mains, which our skilled teams navigated without incident.
Another challenging component was the Critical Under bore of the Sydney Trains T9 Main Northern Line, which was also completed successfully.
NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS
With multiple sections being constructed across Sydney simultaneously, we were constantly being measured against our competitors. R.O.C. Communications out-performed all other contractors on a weekly basis, comparing metres in the ground.
Johann Coetzer – Project Manager
Johann was tasked with delivering this project. With an emphasis on safety, whilst ensuring budgets were maintained, and
in addition, keeping the client informed on all milestones.
Due to his success with this project, R.O.C. Communications has taken on additional projects for this client.
Luke Baker – Project Estimator
Luke was solely responsible for the design and costing of the project, working closely with the client to ensure his submission maximised the full potential
of the requirements.
Once the project was awarded, Luke continued to work closely with other departments to guarantee the desired outcomes were achieved.
